The Role

We are looking for talented professionals who share our vision that every child deserves to be the best they can be.

Stimpson Avenue Academy is looking to recruit a caring and enthusiastic teaching assistant to work in close partnership with our committed team including class teachers and SENCo to support the specific learning needs of key children. A job share may be considered

The role will involve working with named children who have Education, Health and Care Plans. You will be supporting pupils within the classroom setting as well as delivering interventions on a 1:1 or in small groups.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively, sensitively and empathetically to supervise and support our wonderful children with additional needs so that they can fulfil their potential and be successful in their learning. The role will include promoting independence and inclusion as well as supporting social development.

Accurate record keeping is important in this role, as is communicating and building effective working relationships with children, colleagues and parents. Attendance at review meetings may occasionally be required. You will take responsibility for the preparation of adapted resources under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo.

The ideal candidate will have:

·      Experience of working with children with additional needs

·      The ability to motivate children and the skills to support their learning effectively

·      Experience of leading interventions in small groups or on a 1:1

·      Good communication skills

·      A calm, nurturing personality

·      A positive, ‘can-do’ attitude

·      The desire to develop knowledge and skills and partake in continuing professional development

By working for our Trust, you’ll be able to take advantage of a wealth of professional development and support opportunities, as well as a range of employee benefits.

These include:

  • Access to a mobile device for resources and emails
  • Continuous professional development and training opportunities
  • Dedicated support from our school improvement team
  • Career and leadership opportunities within our growing family of schools
  • A Trust employee forum with representatives from across the organisation
  • A confidential 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme
  • Childcare vouchers scheme
  • A corporate eye care plan
  • Flu jabs for all staff
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Headspace

We currently have over 400 children on roll. The children engage fantastically in lessons and are proud of their school and their achievements. Our staff team is committed to their welfare and growth and provide a friendly welcome for new colleagues. The successful candidate will be committed to our values and encourage our hard-working, polite children to achieve and behave at the very highest levels, preparing them for transition into secondary school and beyond

We are part of the East Midlands Academy Trust which provides strong support for the staff and pupils. The Trust was incorporated in July 2012 for the purpose of establishing, maintaining, managing and developing academies and free schools as world class centres of excellence. East Midlands Academy Trust’s vision is that every child deserves to be the best they can be with schools that are centres of excellence for leadership, teaching and learning and where pupils are safe and engaged in their learning. Stimpson Avenue Academy continues to make an important, and at times, compelling, contribution to the Trust.
