The Role

Are you looking to gain some leadership experience in a supportive English department in a good school with well-behaved and engaging students? If so, this could be the job for you. We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic teacher of English to join our team of dedicated English teachers and to take a role in leading the department.

 

The exact responsibilities involved in the role are negotiable, but the attached Job Description provides guidance about the sort of responsibilities that Heads of Departments may decide to delegate to these their Seconds and Thirds. Previously, the post-holder has taken a lead with literacy.

 

The English department is staffed by a team of experienced teachers and the department’s facilities are good, being housed with MFL in a block of 14 classrooms with a staff room on both floors. Our students are well-behaved, happy, and engaging individuals who are proud to be Prince William students. We are passionate about providing them with the best possible education and they have high aspirations for themselves and look to us to guide them on their journey to adult life.

 

Prince William School is located in Oundle, within easy commuting distance of Peterborough, Stamford, Kettering, Wellingborough, and Corby. It is a vibrant and friendly school that strives to deliver the challenging and inspirational curriculum our students need to prepare them for the ever-changing world of work. This is an exciting time for the school as examination results have seen rapid improvement and the school is expanding. In 2023, 75% of our KS4 cohort achieved grade 4+ in both English and Maths, 52% achieved grade 5+ in both English and Maths, and our Progress 8 score was 0.14. In KS5, we achieved 79% A* - C, an average grade of B-, and an ALPS Quality Indicator score of 2.
